Do Kishore dazzles a capacity audience at The Meadows Club

Rolling Meadows, IL: Do Kishore, the much anticipated tribute to the legendary Indian singing star Kishore Kumar more than lived up to its expectations as it made its debut at the Meadows Club on Saturday, September 22nd. The concert was conceptualized by Bubble Wrap Communications and presented by Dhrishti.

A capacity audience was mesmerized by the scions of the legend, Amit Kumar and Sumeet Kumar, as they took the audience on an emotional journey through the career of Kishore Kumar.

After the audience was introduced to the concert by Shebani Kulkarni, the co-founder of Dhrishti and The Meadows Club, the audience was treated to some humorous clippings of some movies of the legendary star. This was followed by the entrance of the two Kishores, Amit & Sumeet Kumar on the stage. And they went on to put on a performance which will be talked about for a long time.

Complimented by one of the best orchestras in Bollywood today, the concert featured some of the most memorable tunes sung by Kishore Kumar from the very old to the recent ones and had the audience in raptures.
Amit Kumar, a veteran singer of Bollywood has inherited the melodies, music and the madness of his great father. And this was evident in his command performance, as he took the audience on a roller coaster ride through the life of Kishore Kumar. Interspersed with anecdotes and mimicry of the legendary singer’s interactions with the great music directors of the yore, Amit Kumar scintillated in his renditions of hits like, Mana Janaab ne Pukaara nahin, Meri Sapnon Ki Rani, Roop tera Mastan, Aise na mujhe tum dekhon. His rendition of Roop Tera Mastana with all the maddening diversions and stage pyro technics brought the house down repeatedly. And then there was an unplugged version of a medley of hits which he performed with Sumeet Kumar which was nostalgia all over.

Sumeet Kumar, the much younger of the two sons of Kishore Kumar too regaled the audience with his renditions of Zindagi Ka Safar, Bachana Ai Haseenon, Chala Jaata hoon and many more duets with his brother. Bringing an energetic and polite presence to the stage he had the audience clapping and singing with him. The accompanying orchestra with Parikshit on keyboards as the leader was simply outstanding. Capturing all the nuances and variations of the past music directors in the current context, they made it resemble a studio recording.

A shawl was presented to Amit Kumar by Dhrishti and Meadows Club founder Madan Kulkarni and Viresh Champaneri to honor his contributions over the years to Indian music fraternity.
Dhrishti presented this dinner concert in support of the Metropolitan Asian Family Services on their 20th anniversary.
