Holiday Inn Gurnee Opens With a fun filled Gala
Chicago IL: The Holiday Inn Gurnee located at 6161 West Grand Avenue, Gurnee , IL. purchased by Ravinder Singh of New Crown Holdings, LLC and managed by Expotel Hospitality, had been closed for over a year while a full scale multi million dollar renovation had been under way with a scheduled opening of June 2012. The Holiday Inn Gurnee will be one of the premiere full service facilities in the Gurnee market with 210 newly appointed guest rooms and will feature a state of the art conference and banquet facility featuring over 10,000 square feet of space.
June 22, 2012 Friday 6:00 PM the celebration was under way for the official Grand Opening Ceremony starting with a ribbon cutting attended by over two hundred guests and officials from The Lake County Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Lake County Chamber, as well as Mayor Kristina Korvarik, who proudly facilitated the ribbon cutting commemoration.
Later in the evening, guests in attendance were lavished with “Food From Around The World” which was the theme of the evening. Live jazz music filled the lobby as attendees were presented Champagne upon arrival and escorted around the hotel for viewing of Lake County’s newest hotel as well as the recently opened Spice Restaurant and Lounge located in the hotel. The concept of Spice Restaurant is a collaboration of Middle Eastern and American fusion which will be marketed as a signature dining destination in Gurnee.
One of the many highlights of the evening came when Jeff Iavarone, Vice President of Expotel Hospitality and Nick Agostinelli who serves as Business Development for Expotel, presented Mr. Singh with a crystal decanter and personalized with an inscription that read: To Ravinder Singh: ‘A man of commerce, a great leader, and a friend to all’.
Mr. Singh recognized how significant the opening was not only for him but the bigger picture the hotel represents, “We recognize the importance of our success to all of these individuals, and to the village as a whole, as hotel tax contributes to the ability of local government to fund essential services. There are too many to thank here and now; yet the warm welcome and willingness to assist in our opening and beyond has been overwhelming”.

Karl Kalra had arranged Bollywood Singer Poonam Bhatia, who is visiting the United States, to come and perform for the grand opening of the magnificent banquet hall. Since the guests were already in high spirits, Poonam took over the microphone and started singing and grooving to the Sensuous song Dil Ko Hazaar Baar Roka, from the film Murder. The guests immediately started filling the dancing space right in front of her! There after she sang the song Aage Bhi Jaane Na Tu from the old Bollywood Classic Movie Waqt. All the beautiful couples swarmed to the dance floor. It was a high energy Rock Star kind of performance by Poonam Bhatia nonstop for seventy minutes! She sang almost all the latest Bollywood chart busters like Sheela, Munni, Chikni Chameli etc. She also sang some old classics and Punjabi hits following to the demand of the guests. Asian Media Chairman Suresh Bodiwala was Amazed to see Poonam Bhatia turning into a professional DJ and playing the Bhangra Music for more than an hour! She kept dancing with the guests who just Just didn’t want the evening to get over. The charming and magical personality which is very endearing to the people in party circuit!
