Vishwa Gujarati Samaj USA President Naren Patel with his board Celebrated Diwali with Global President Krishnakant Vakharia
Chicago, IL: Vishwa Gujarati Samaj USA (VGS USA) Board of Directors & President Naren Patel Celebrated Diwali on Friday October 28, 2011 at the Waterford Banquet located on 922 Riverside Road, Elmhurst IL. The event was also attended by VGS members, [the event was complementary to the paid members] invited guests, friends and family. The extravagant celebration began at 7 pm. Vishwa Gujarati Samaj Global President Krishnakant Vakharia and Kusum Kaul Vyas the Joint General Secretary travelled from India to join the celebration. Mr. Hitesh Master and his orchestra conducted music for Garba, Bhajan, melodious Bollywood and Gujarati Lokgeet.
The event kicked off with the Deep Lighting Ceremony with the chief guest VGS Worldwide President, Mr. Krishnakant Vakharia. Joining Mr. Vakharia was VGS USA President, Mr. Naren Patel, Hiren Patel [NRB Bank]Mafat Patel, Neal & Raj Patel from Medstar Laboratory, Inc., Dinesh Gandhi, Beena Patel, Sonal Shukla, Tushar Chotalia, Vinod Parikh, Kishore Chugh and Dr. Yash Amin. They wished all guests Happy Diwali and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Nishal Patel, the grandson of Naren Patel came up on stage to enlighten the audience what Diwali truly represents.
Next, the VGS, USA Secretary Beena Patel was acknowledged for her love, dedication, and commitment to the Indian community. She introduced VGS Worldwide President, Mr. Krishankant Vakharia. She commented that Mr. Vakharia’s leadership is exceptional and since last five terms, he is serving VGS. VGS has members from all over the world which includes 17 countries. For Global membership information, contact Beena Patel or any other board members. On November 6th, 2011, Mr. Vakharia will inaugurate its new chapter in Ontario, Canada.
Mr. Vakharia is a senior congress leader in India and practicing as senior Advocate in Gujarat High Court Bar for more than 57 years. Due to his towering reputation and wisdom people in power and media considered his opinion credible and truthful. He also writes legal opinion if he is approached by credible organization or media. In 1974, in an annual convention, American Bar Association invited him to be one of the key guest speakers in Vancouver, Canada. He enlightened the audience with information regarding mission and future course that he likes to take for VGS. Lastly, VGS,USA President Naren Patel, noted his love for the community, fearless leader, a loving and caring family man, who is known for his generosity, was introduced by Sonal Shukla.
Naren Patel began his speech with Good Evening and Jai Shree Krishna. ”I am very happy that we are celebrating Diwali in the presence of our global president Mr. Krishnakant Vakharia and Joint General Secretary Kusumben Vyas. As you know, in a very short period, VGSUSA has established its image and superb reputation in the Chicago land area. Our first get-together and music program was held at Waterford Banquet in 2009, and the grand celebration of Swirnim Gujarat in May 2010. Subsequently with co-operation of Indian Consulate General’s Office, VGS,USA brought Bhavai program, which everybody enjoyed very much. This was the first Bhavai Show performed in Chicago. What a reviving, traditional, ancient glorious performance! This year, VGS,USA is celebrating Diwali. Naren Patel thanked the main sponsors; Mr. Hiren Patel of National
Republic Bank, Mr. Mafat Patel of Patel Brothers along with Rakesh and Swetal and of course, Neal and Raj from Medstar laboratory. Naren Patel said that without their support, this program would not be possible. As you know, we provide complimentary tickets to our members. Initially, for the VGS,USA members, five years membership fee was only $ 100.00 per couple. This year that fee is increased to $ 100.00 per couple for two years with all benefits of membership”. In the end, Naren Patel recognized VGS Board members; Mafat Patel, Dinesh Gandhi, Beena Patel, Sonal Shukla, Tushar Chotalia, Vinod Parikh, Kishore Chugh and Dr. Yash Amin for their support and gave special thanks to his sister Beena and Sonal Shukla for their hard work and dedication to the organization.
Next, Naren Patel recognized important invited representatives from all regional community leaders and organizations, and thank the following people for their support: Dr. Umang Patel, Dr. Indrajit Patel, Dr. Manish Bhrambhatt, Vinesh Virani, Sunil Shah, Sunny Gabhawala Kanti Patel, Dr. Bharat Barai, Kishan Patel, Dilip Patel,Gopal Patel, Nick & Mayur Patel, Bhupen Patel, Hemang Patel, Mayur Ganger, Dr. Ghanshyam Pandey, Dr. Subhash Pandey, Dr. Manu Vora, and Pritesh Gandhi . He thanked Hiren Patel of National Republic Bank for always supporting and attending VGS,USA program. He also thanked Mr.
Bodiwala and Dr. Modi as media friends for always covering VGS,USA programs. Naren thanked TV ASIA Bureau Chief, Vandana Jhingha and Ramesh Soparawala from India Post. He ended his speech with, “Enjoy the traditional Gujarati food, cultural program, and Music from Hitesh Master.”
The traditional Garbo was performed by age group of 8 to 10 years young girls, “Dudhe Te Bhari Talavdi Ne, Moti De Bandhi Pal Re”. The participants were: Shriya Patel, Riya Patel, Ishani Majmudar, Mona Panchal, Maya Tanna, Karina Dharia, Roma Nayak and Isha Nayak. The Garbo was choreographed by Dr. Sonal Patel, followed by Chicago Dhamal group dance.
Sumptuous Kathiawadi Dinner and music program lasted until wee hours of late night. The two female singers of the evening were Jaya and Dhaanshree. Aman, Ravi, Shoanak were the three male singes. The other musicians were: Mukesh – Keyboard, Amit – Congo/Dholak, Vijay – Octopad/Rhythm Machine, Balubhai – Percussions, Rakeshbhai – Drums, and Jayson – Base Guitar.
Vishwa Gujarati Samaj is a worldwide organization established about 25 years ago. VGS,USA chapter started with President Naren Patel in 2009. VGS, USA has achieved a great name recognition and growth in a short period. VGS,USA memberships for a couple have been only $100 for 5 years. The members have been reaping great benefits throughout the years due to free shows and events by VGS, USA. From this year, Vishwa Gujarati Samaj USA is charging $100.00 per couple for two years.
