Shree Jalaram Mandir Hosts annual Fund Raising Dinner for Temple Expansion
Hoffman Estates: IL: Shree Jalaram Mandir, located at 425, Illinois Blvd, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, hosted a fund raising dinner on Friday, September 14 at The Meadows Club, in Rolling Meadows IL. at 7:00 PM. The program had all the great ingredients for a great evening namely religious, friendly and entertaining, while maintaining its purpose of raising funds for the temple expansion. The program was attended by more than 650 devotees from all over the Chicago land area.
The event was arranged for raising funds for the ambitious Mandir expansion and murti pratishtha. The overwhelming response of the community since the start of the temple in 2008 has created a real need for expansion of the present 6,400 square feet temple floor and 6,000 square feet of basement floor. Therefore, the volunteers are planning to add 4,800 square feet building on both floors. The expansion will include a Garbha Griha area, larger area for devotees to sit comfortably to worship, coat and washrooms on both floors, a new kitchen, multipurpose basement area for dining and social purposes, as well as rooms for other activities. With the help of the donations, the temple has finished a parking area for 109 cars and an elevator for senior citizens is about to be finished.
The evening started with a social hour at 7:00 P.M. The guests were meeting each other in a very friendly atmosphere and enjoying the delicious appetizers. A display of drawings was mounted on stands for the guests to look at the proposed expansion including the finished exterior of the proposed temple with domes like a traditional Hindu temple.
After the deep pragatya by the mayor of Hoffman Estates and other guests, a Ganesh prayer dance was performed by the temple dance class artists. Mayor of Hoffman Estates Mr. McLeoad addressed the gathering and appreciated the discipline and activities carried out by the Temple in the area. The president of the executive board explained detailed information of the expansion plans with the help of a power point presentation. While the guests were enjoying a delicious dinner served on their tables, the very popular singer and Gazalkar Pankaj Udhas. The audience was thrilled by his gazals, gujarati songs, some famous songs for old Hindi films and songs requested by the audience. The audience was mesmerized by the voice of Manhar Udhas and the local popular orchestra of Hitesh Master
While the audience was enjoying, the devotees continued to offer generous donations for the mandir expansion. A total of $ 80,000 was collected and a total of $ 61,000 was offered by devotees as interest free loans. The program concluded after 11-30 P.M. with happy memories of the music and entertainment.
