Desi Dulhania Expo in Chicago

Chicago IL: Zohra Shahzad Presented Desi Dulhania Expo on July 8, at Meadows Club, 2950 W Golf Road, Rolling Meadows, IL. It was a colorful array of beautiful clothes, jewelry, henna, and people! The organizer, Ms. Zohra Shahzad has been arranging very respectable shows and bazaars all around Chicago, Canada, and Dubai for the last 40 years without fail, giving communities a chance to see the latest styles and fashions.

The coordinator, Komal Mirza has been modeling in the Chicago land area since the age of 3 for various agencies and had volunteered to take charge of the fashion show presented during the bazaar.

Hair and makeup for the models was done by Hiba Khan, owner of Eve Beauty Salon, located in Schaumburg. Eve Beauty Salon has been serving Chicago land since over 15 years! They are a full service salon. Eve has recently started airbrush makeup that makes the beautiful models look flawless. We had the pleasure of getting a couple words from Hiba Khan, herself. “Doing shows amongst the community is a great feeling! When all the work is done and you see the beautiful models walking the runway, you know for sure that all of your hard work has paid off to its full extent. It makes me happy that the models appreciate my work and are so patient with me! I love what I do, because giving someone the right look plays a big part in how confidently they carry themselves.”

The fashion show showcased amazing designs by Parizays and their gorgeous wedding wear, located in Chicago, Erma’s Exclusive Collection for their beautiful party wear, located in Bolingbrook, and a special thanks to Saris and Things, located in Streamwood, for their wedding wear. They are a designer clothing rental boutique where you can rent out or buy saris, lehengas, blouses, accessories, and men’s wear for a very

The runway was made beautiful by the presence of all the professional models. 1st Runner Up Miss Teen India Illinois Megha Mathur, Caroline Foreman, Natalia Horrigan, Kinga Karolina, Omehabiba Khan, Needa
Memon, Hiba Khan, and Komal Mirza. Special thanks to Tim as the male model for the bridal segment. The models put a lot of hard work into making the show what it was and their efforts were much appreciated by
the audience!

Last but not least, the night was completed by DJ Ex-Tacy, Imran Waheed who was “Spinning the tracks with finesse” and had also been a great help backstage with the models, their families, and organizer, and the coordinator.

Before the Fashion Show started, Erum Zeeshan recited holy Hamd and in between Fashion Shows Musical program was presented by Faiza and Arif, of Ramada Hotel, They sung beautiful songs with appropriate actions and delighted the spectators.

Zohra Shahzad
She holds a masters and a law degree from Karachi, Pakistan. For a while, she held a legal advisor position at Dubai Bank Ltd. She spent the 18 years in Dubai organizing social and cultural programs which comprised of fame artists from both Pakistan and India. In UAB, she organized many successful events, which included Neelam Ghar of Tariq Aziz, Bushra Ansari, Moin Akhtar, and Masood Rana. She also organized Islamic and Literary Programs featuring, Siddique Ismail, Shakir Qasmi, Fasiuddin Sohorwardi, Jamiluddin Aali and Fatima Suraiya Bajia. The concert of Madam Noorjahan was one of her milestone shows in Dubai. She had organized successful shows of Ali Hayder, Junaid Jamshed and Alamgir in Florida and New York, But moved to Chicago after 9/11. Currently she works as an immigration Consultant. She also is the chairperson of Talent Circle, An organization who promote social, cultural religious, and educational activities.
