Shree Swaminarayan Temple of Wheeling honors

Chicago, IL: On Sunday March 18, at Shree Swaminarayan Mandir of Wheeling, President of the Temple, PP Nishkamswrupdasji Swami, PP Nirbhaycharandasji Swami, Chandrakant Modi MD, Suresh Bodiwala and in the presence of hundreds of devotees honored Mr. David Pimm, the president and funeral director of Bohemian National Cemetery ( BNC) located at 5255 North Pulaski Road in Chicago, Illinois 60630 for his outstanding service to people and in particular to the Indian Community.

They said that Mr. Pimm had contributed to getting a dignified professional Funeral/Cremation of the person, at a very reasonable price. Elucidating the reason for the reward, Chairman and one of the Founding members of Indian Cremation NFP (Not For Profit) Dr. Chandrakant Modi, and president Mr. Suresh Bodiwala, explained that at the time of the death the loved one, the grieving family and friends have the stress and additional burden of choosing a place for cremation as well as dealing with the logistics of the funeral and cremation.

This has to be done promptly while family is still grieving and under great stress. Certain funeral directors took advantage of this emotional state of grief stricken family’s circumstances and charged excessive amounts of money to perform the customary cremation services.

To prevent this type of exploitation, ICC members after mentoring and guidance from David Pimm, were successful in negotiating and obtaining prearranged fixed priced for comprehensive cremation package. Besides Mr. David Pimm’s Bohemian National cemetery, funeral directors of thirteen(13) other crematorium located at different geographic locations in Chicago land area also joined in the project.

Among these fourteen cremation places, David agreed to charge the total price of only about $ 1851, most economical price compared to all other participating cremation places. To view the Prices of each of fourteen cremation places readers may visit the ICC web site (www.indiancremationnfp.org), or page 17 of companion resource book.

For identical cremation services, a bereaved family can save almost 50% of money by going to David Pimm of Bohemian National Cemetery. This is sizeable amount of saving that survivor can used in the memory of deceased person. All David’s guidance and enthusiasm gave us what we needed most – and that was leadership, said Dr C M Modi. “ He was the quarterback in a drive that took us from a dream to a reality….the reality of achieving ICC’s mission of obtaining dignified cremation at a reasonable price that our community will enjoy for years,” he added.

For these reasons, Dr. Modi on behalf of Shree Swaminarayanan Mandir, including Swamiji, and President Mr. Rajani Patel honored and awarded the plaque, with the citation, “So David, on behalf of everyone here, we like to say thanks for being a man of compassion and big heart, you got us started, rallying many people to work together to complete this cremation project. It would never have happened without you.”

Mr. David Pimm in accepting the award stated that “I am quite thrilled to receive this award”. He indicated that he has a great love respect and compassion for Indian religions. He thanked the Swamiji, President Mr. Rajani Patel and entire organization of the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir of Wheeling for such overwhelming tribute. After time-honored prayer and Arti, simple and delicious healthy hearty dinner followed.
