Indian seniors of Chicago celebrated colorful Holi
Chicago IL: Members of Indian Seniors of Chicago met at Manav Seva Mandir, Bensenville, IL on Saturday 10th March, 2012 at 11:30am. Around 135 members attended the meeting. The following four senior members Nalini, Gita, Hema and Ramesh started with prayer and Hanuman Chalisa and all the members followed them in singing. Shri CV Desai presented the detailed accounts for the month of February, 2012,and he also gave detailed information about the two days tour which is being organized on July 21st & 22nd 2012 to Maharishi Vedic City, in Fairfield, Iowa. Arvindbhai and Bhupendrabhai announced the names of seniors whose birthdays were in the month of March and they were given birthday greeting cards and booklets by the special guest, Shri Greg James and Bhupendrabhai. All the senior members collectively sang the song “Bar Bar Ye Din Aaye Tum Jio Hjare Sal, Happy Birth Day To You” and gave their blessings.
Shri Bhailalbhai Patel gave introduction of the special guest Shri Greg James, Director of Expansion, Brahmanand Sarsvati Foundation ,Fairfield, IA. After that Shri Greg James explained the important activities carried out in Maharishi Vedic City, where the two days tour is organized. Secretary Shri Hirabhai gave the detailed program, approximate expense and the important places to be visited during the seven days tour to Mt.Rushmore,Yellowstone and Las Vegas. There was good response received from the members, which is a good sign for the tour. Shri Narsinhbhai Patel explained the importance of cruise. He said that no experience in the world offers the great pleasures of a cruise and it is the ultimate stress free vacation. In a cruise we get delicious food, luxury amenities, fantastic weather and exotic destinations. He also explained about 8 nights Southern Caribbean cruise and the islands to be visited during 8 days.
On the occasion of Holi celebration, Hirabhai, Arvindbhai and Bhupendrabhai organised a recreation program. First of all a chorus song ‘Mere Deshki Dharti’ was sung by Hirabhai, Bhupendrabhai, Gita, Hema, Madhuben and Rohini.After that Manav Seva Mandir Excutive Board Member Shri Jashawant Sheth Sang a filmy song in his typical voice. Hema Shastri performed a very good dance Satyam Shivam Sundaram Song and did monoacting. Everybody appreciated her performance. Rohini Dekhtawala and Arvindbhai Thakkar also sang songs which were liked to all the members. Bhupendrabhai, Arvindbhai Kotak,Sharmi and Vina Mayani also provided very good entertainment.
Manubhai Shah congratulated all the participants and thanked them for the entertainment program. Rasikbhai Shah gave thanks to Jagdishbhai and Shakuben for their sweet contribution on this occasion which made the seniors laugh by singing a song in his typical voice. Sharad Shah spoke about Holi dhuleti festival and its importance in our life. Holi is also celebrated in the memory of Lord Krishna. In Indian villages, Holi is solemnized amidst rituals and sacrifices. Bonfires are lit and mothers often carry their babies five times in a clockwise direction around the fire, so that Agni, the god of fire, will bless the babies with a successful life. At the end all the members took delicious food and departed.
