Spectacular performance by Rhythm 2012 at SOFKIN Annual Fundraiser
Monmouth Junction NJ: Support Organization for Kids In Need (SOFKIN) presented Rhythm 2012 on June 2, 2012 at South Brunswick Cross Roads South Middle School, 195 Major Road, Monmouth Junction, NJ. Approximately 500 people attended this prestigious and “most awaited” event that started at approximately 5 pm. Rhythm 2012 event is an Annual Fundraiser to support SOFKIN homes and to raise the awareness in the community about SOFKIN.
SOFKIN is a non-profit organization. Their mission is to, “Support the upbringing of the under privileged children, irrespective of name or nationality, cast or creed, race or religion by providing basic amenities, education and medical aid in a secure and healthy environment.” This prestigious event was organized by Chaya Pamula, the Founder of SOFKIN and the managing committee.
In the Cross Roads South Middle School, the Rhythm 2012 event was truly remarkable. The backstage and hallway areas, were filled with enthusiastic and smiling faces of children of various ages (6-19 years), waiting to perform on stage. The children were wearing traditional Indian outfits and jewelry, and had unique makeup for the various performances. The air was filled with joy and excitement, as the children were anxiously waiting their turns to perform.
Rhythm 2012 kicked off with an extraordinary performance by Bhavesh Khatri, who sang a total of five popular Hindi songs, from various Hindi films. Next, the SOFKIN Youth Group sang the US National Anthem with grace and honor. The Master of the Ceremony was conducted by Venky Sadagopan. Venky did an exceptional job throughout the Rhythm 2012 event.
The SOFKIN Youth Group (Jasel Patel, Thomas Weng, Pranav Venkatraman) shared a brief introduction about their own inspiration and involvement with SOFKIN. Throughout the Rhythm 2012 event, a total of 3 Short Films on SOFKIN children was presented. It was produced by Anusha Pamula. The films were very passionate and inspirational.
Rhythm 2012 had a total of 4 groups for the Dance Competition.
Group 1: Ore Kanchi-Bollywood Dance

Group 2: Lord of the Dance-Neoclassical Dance
Performers: Sadena Rishindran, Miduna Rishindran, Raina Pahade, Michelle Ancil, Neha Premanand, Vismita Kanadasamy, Ahimsa Aradhya, Elina Roychowdhury
Group 3: Dinka Chika & Aadat Se- Bollywood Dance
Performers: Neil Jain, Meenal Upadhyay, Neha Chabra, Ashwi Patel, Komal Patel, Kanika Chibbe, Nirali Dalwadi, Bina Prajapati
Group 4: Love Dance
Performers: Michelle Ancil, Neha Premanand, Vismita Kanadasamy, Bhargavi Lanka, Bhavya Sahay, Niharika Sahay
Rhythm 2012 held an exhilarating dance competition among the four dance groups. All the groups were acknowledged for their extraordinary performance, hard work and dedication. The judges include: Divya Yeluri, Alka Agarwal and Donnalyn Patakos. The Rhythm 2012 was an opportunity for the children to display their talent, as well as make a true difference in a child’s life in India.
The Rhythm 2012 Winners for the Dance Competition include:

Second Place: Dinka Chika & Aadat Se-Bollywood Dance
Third Place: Ore Kanchi-Bollywood Dance
Fourth Place: Love Dance
The winners received an award and with publicity in Asian Media USA, TV Asia, SOFKIN Website and other media outlets.

The Rhythm 2012 was a truly inspirational and memorable event. Overall, SOFKIN hopes to continue to raise funds to support the underprivileged children in India. With the continued support from the community, SOFKIN’s goal is to extend and expand these homes for the needy children and continue to strive to a make a true difference in their lives.

SOFKIN is currently supporting over seventy children in four homes located in Hyderabad and Pune, India. Each SOFKIN Home consists of 15-20 children and 2-3 house mothers. SOFKIN is unique organization that strives to teach the children “how to fish.” ‘Love, happiness and smiles’ is the foundation in all the homes. Chaya Pamula, the founder of SOFKIN visits these homes at least three times a year. The children await her with open arms. With Chaya’s inspirational personality, warm and loving nature, she greets all the children, as if her own. In fact, it not surprising that all the children call her “Mom”. SOFKIN is more than just giving a house, it is “giving a home.” In essence, with the continued support from the community, SOFKIN’s goal is to extend and expand these homes for the needy children.
