Indo-American Democratic Organization Celebrates Victory of 2012 Election

Chicago IL: Nov 18, 2012- Indian community organized a dinner party in honor of the Democrats who won during the recent election. The Indo-American Democratic Organization convened the event. The dinner was attended by 500 guests who were supporters of the organization. In addition to the honorable guests, there were also statewide, countywide, local & elected officials present. The dinner had a 3 course cuisine which was provided by Host Committee Holiday Inn. The event was celebrated with classical music.

The event organizer was Balvinder Singh who is a Chair person for President Obama’s campaign Organization of America, Devon ave, Chicago . Mehbub Kapadia MD was supporter of campaign. The guest speaker was Indian Consulate General Ms. Mukta Tomar. Democrat Winner Bill Foster gave a speech commenting on the great work the Indian community did for the Nation. Sen. Ira Silverstein was the honorable speaker. Other prominent politicians that spoke at the event included Congresswomen Jan Schakowsky, Rep. Brad Schneider, Congressman Danny Davis, Alderman Debra Silverstein, Rep. Lou Lang, Alderman Joe Moore,and many more.

Volunteers supported the Obama Organization extensively and National Democratic Organization. Volunteers made calls in phone banks and canvassed in many cities and communities. The volunteers included many Indian Americans whose tireless work made this campaign successful. Balvinder Singh and his team volunteered to canvass in Indian majority areas like the Devon business district in Chicago and nationwide. They set up phone banking centers that targeted swing states that need Democratic influence. Mr. & Mrs. Balvinder Singh voluntarily ran a campaign office in Chicago. He has been supporting Obama since he was running for Senator in 2002.

“The people have spoken and they have given a loud and clear message to the nation, that there is no division of red and blue in America, we all should work united in the White House “ said by Mujeeb Osman. Volunteer Mujeeb Osman, Honorable Lauren Beth Gash, and Sen. Terry Link organized voters and canvassed for President Obama’s campaign called Organizing America for two terms since 2007 to re-elect Obama. His territory consisted of Northern Illinois called the Midway Team and other swing states. His team was organized by Hon. Nancy Shepardson Tenth Congressional Democratic District who campaigned for change by remote phone calls done by community women leaders, watchdog, poll watchers, and runners as a final push in targeted precincts. Mujeeb Osman published full page advertisements in South Asian newspapers for over a month to gain momentum in the community. The advertisements were posted around the city for Democratic candidates and a separate Ad for Nationwide Re-elect President Obama. Mujeeb Osman has been supporting Obama since he was running for Senator in 2002.

The idea of the Indo-American is “Responsive and responsible government”. The highlight of the night was to review and raise the momentum of the organization and discuss ways on achieving a new level of success.
