Fun-filled Raunak Mela at Hari Om Mandir
Chicago IL: Hari Om Mandir organized their annual “Raunak Mela-2012” at Hari Om Mandir, 6N020 Medinah Road, Medinah, IL 60157 on Sunday, July 8th, 2012 from 11:00 am. to 5:00 pm where members, friends, and well-wishers participated in large attendance. There were lots of fun activities for all age groups. For kids games like X-Box, WII & PS2 were setup. For younger kids there was moonwalk. There were food & merchandise stalls, music, Antakshari competition, Health Fair and much more.
The food items included hot Chana Bhatura prepared onsite by Singhla family. Fried Rice and Manchurian from Desi Chilli restaurant in Westmont, IL. Then there were also sort of snack items like Papdi chat, Pani puri, Noodles, Samosa/ Tikki chat, Sindhi Pakora, Bhelpuri etc. For healthy eating there were sprouts. All the food were prepared and donated by the members of Hindu Society. Star food provided Samosas and Pakoras. Sindhi Pakora were prepared by Mohan Karamchandani and family. Meenu Agarwal and family provided Panipuri. Sneh Chowdhary provided sprouts. Vipan and Sangeeta Wadhera setup the Corn stall which was managed by Giri Dassani. Various volunteers manned the stalls.
For dessert there was Mango and Pista Kulfi. The drinks included juices donated by Star Foods, soft drinks and Sweet and Namkeen lassi donated by Rajan & Aarty Singhla. Desi Chilli also provided 10% discount coupons to all those present.
Antakshari attracted both Male and Female singers who whole heartedly participated and it was handled efficiently by Deepak and Mona Sharma. Prem Salwan, Madhu Salwan, Suchitra Sarkar, Seema Dabbas, Kiran Singla, Mridula Pathak, Aarti Singla, Malti Sharma, Sangeeta Wadhera, Anita Rawal, Indu Bhalla, Ayodhia Salwan, Satpal Salwan, Akshay Sarkar, Pawan Singla, Jignesh Pathak, Hemant Bhalla, Vipin Wadhera, Raj Bhardwaj, Sham Rawal, Sukvir Atwal, Hardev Raj.
Dr. Om Dhingra and Dr. Ramesh Dhingra organized the Annual Health camp. Several people received Blood Sugar, EKG and Blood Pressure checkup. Sharul Saxena and Ajay Gaur assisted them. An interesting yet proud achievement of the fair was that a youth of just 40 years was checked up and it was found that he had Heart Attack and ensuring it through three EKGs, it was ascertained and he was rushed to Hospital. Chairman Ayodhiya Salwan and President Rajeev Bharel put their best efforts to maintain a trouble free environment for all the participants. The weather God also blessed them by giving a break in the heat and humidity of the last few days.
The Executive Board members and the Board of Trustees were all very active and were seen helping all around. The Special Events Committee chair Anil Saxena and Volunteer Team head Swappan Kumar did a excellent job with team of volunteers to manage the parking in the nearby school. The teenagers Devanshu, Nihaal and Shashank managed the X BOX and WII games. They were supervised by Subash Sitaraman.
Raunak Mela is an annual fair and festival that takes place in Hari OM Mandir. This year’s Mela welcomed people to celebrate the season of Spring and its new beginnings. Mela at Hari Om Temple is a joyous occasion providing wholesome fun for everyone. Everyone left feeling uplifted and looking forward to coming back again next year. This Mela was enjoyed by all the guests due to the dedication and hard work put in by members and volunteers of Hari Om Mandir.

Hari Om Mandir located at DuPage County in the heart of Chicago land. The Mandir has statues of all major North Indian Gods & Goddesses. Every Sunday there is a Havan and general congregation followed by Aarti and Bhojan Prasad. On every first Saturday of the month we have Devi Jagran from 7 – 10pm.
