Celebration of Rama Navami at Manav Seva Mandir
Chicago IL: Manav Seva Mandir celebrated Ramanavami Festival on Sunday the April 1, 2012 at 101 South Church Road Bensenville, IL. from 9-00 am onwards. On this auspicious and joyous occasion, devotees of Hinduism are encouraged to aspire to emulate the ideal virtues of Lord Rama and chant ‘Shree Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram’ so as to get the most benefit from the principal Deity as well as to help one to worship the Deity on a continuous basis for furthering spiritual growth and experience.
A week long deliberation started on the first day of Chaitra to the ninth day correspondingly known as Navratri, which was enthusiastically celebrated daily in the evening and on last day, Ramanavmi all the deliberations started from 11:00 am. Exactly at 12:00 pm Ram Janam was performed amongst loud cheering of the devotees, ‘Shri Ram Jai Shri Ram Jai Jai Ram”. There was a long queue for Darshan and thereafter, Mahaprasad was taken by one and all, where Farali and regular Prasad was distributed. Jaihind restaurant was the caterer.
Importance of Ramnavmi: According to Dr. C.L.Shastri, the Chief Priest at Manav Seva Mandir, “ Bhagwan Shri Ram was Purshottam (Poornavtar). Maharshi Valmiki had created ‘Valmiki Ramayan’ approximately 2000 years ago. Following the same, Saint Tulsidasji created ‘Ram Charit Manas Granth’ which was famous not only in India but in most of the countries of the world. Today we come across names like Ram, Laxman, Bharat, Sita, Urmila, Dashrath resembling characters of Ramayan, which is a proof of the importanc of Ramcharit. Number of Festivals like Shri Janmashtami, Shivratri, Ramanavami are also celebrated throughout the world. This festival is celebrated on Chaitra Sud(Shukla) Nom-9th day. It is known that birth of Bhagwan Rama took place at 12-00 pm on that day. Accordingly it is celebrated in a grand manner. In its memory Akhand Ramayan Path Parayan are done regularly. Bhagwan Rama demolished the tyranny of Demons and had given rebirth to Hindu Sanatan Dharma. The main significance behind the celebration of this festival is the character of Lord Rama which signifies an ideal son, an upright husband, a righteous King, and a loving brother and even an ideal man, someone who follows the right path against all odds in life. He was also the true embodiment of humanity. So celebration of Ramnavami is in some way a special reminder of all the noble deeds or ideals for which Lord Rama symbolizes. So if we see it in true sense it is not only a festival to enjoy and have fun, but there are lot more things to be learnt. It is a celebration of goodness and its victory against all evils.
