Hari OM Mandir Celebrates New Year with Akhand Ramayan Path

Chicago IL: Hari Om Mandir located at 6N020 Medinah Rd, Medinah, IL celebrated New Year with Pooja by the temple priests on 10.00 AM, Saturday, 31st December 2011. This was followed by the beginning of Akhand Ramayan Path. The path went on for full 24 hours and ended on January 1st 2012. Around midnight several devotees came to Mandir to celebrate New Year. At around 11:45pm Mr. Subhash Sharma & Mrs. Rama Kapoor along with Bhagat Mandli started Satsang and hanting “Jai Shree Ram” till dawn of the New Year. The path ended on January 1st around 11 AM. More than 400 devotees and their families enjoyed the New Year program at Hari Om Mandir

Several volunteers came forward to read the Ramayan during the day and night. Kitchen was open during the entire event and devotee kept coming to worship and assist in the Kitchen.

Outgoing president Nirmal Bagga thanked all the volunteers and devotees for their help and support during her tenure. Mr. Ayodhia N Salwan, Chairman Board of Trustees, welcomed the new president of the Executive Board, Mr. Rajeev Bharel. Mr. Rajeev Bharel in his speech appealed to everyone to step forward and Donate their time as volunteers. He requested everyone to spare some time and help in Mandir activities. Then he introduced the rest of the Executive Board, Mr. Brij Sharma, Vice President, Mr. Gopal Tiwari, Treasurer, Mrs. Sneh Choudhary, Secretary, Mr. Sunil Saxena, Property Management, Mr. Swappan Kumar, Publication, Parking & Volunteer team head, Mrs. Anshu Paul, Education, Mr. Anil Saxena, Special Events and Mr. Ramesh Bhardwaj, Food.

Mr. Ayodhia Salwan invited Mr. Krishan Tejpal & Mr. Sat Pal Salwan to give “Life Time Achievement Awards”. The awards were given to Mr. Satish Sachdev and Mr. Avtar Bhandari for their valuable contribution and unconditional support to the Hindu Society (Hari OM Mandir). BOT Chairman praised the outstanding services of the outgoing members of the Executive Board and Board of Trustees.

Mr. Ayodhia Salwan and Mrs. Nirmal Bagga also honored the Religious Committee Chairman Mr. Subash Sharma and Mrs. Rama Kapoor for their dedication and commitment for the Mandir’s religious programs. Mr. Ayodhia Salwan acknowledged the contribution of various devotees like Mr. Ranbir & Mrs. Sarla Tangri, Mr. Deepak & Mrs. Mona Sharma, Mrs. Suchitra Sarkar, Mr & Mrs. Amar Singhla. Mr. Rajeev Bharel invited Mr. Vipan Wadhera to honor Mr. Ayodhia Salwan for his support, contribution and dedication to the Hari OM Mandir.

Mr. Ayodhia Salwan introduced Mr. Raja Krishnamurthy, candidate for US Congress, to the congregation. Mr. Krishnamurthy emphasized the importance of voting and requested everyone who is eligible to vote, to register themselves. There was a lucky draw competition and Mr. Krishnamurthy gave the prizes.

In the end the outgoing president, Mrs. Nirmal Bagga, new president Mr. Rajeev Bharel and BOT Chairman Mr. Ayodhia Salwan thanked everyone and invited everyone to the Devi Jagran on Saturday Jan. 7th 2012. The program came to an end with Aarti and Prasad. Food was served in the Prabhu Ka Bhandara in the lower hall.

Hindi Classes Information
Hari Om Mandir has been organizing Hindi Classes for quite some time. Both Beginners and Advanced level classes are offered to the devotees of Hari Om Mandir. There is no age barrier for these classes, which means kids, teens, adults, and senior people are all welcome to participate in the classes

Following is the information related to the Hindi Classes:
• Classes are held on 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month
• Class schedule is from 12PM – 1PM
• Classes run during the school year from September (2nd Sunday) through June (1st week)
• Fee$50 (includes Books, Papers, and all accessories)
• Location Classroom in the Mandir Basement
