UP Association of Greater Chicago Hasya Kavi Sammelan a laugh riot

Chicago IL:UP Association (UPA) of Greater Chicago Proudly presented its Annual Grand Hasya-Ras Kavi Sammelan featuring leading poets from India. Kunwar Bechain, Suresh Awasthi and Deepak Gupta, on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Hinsdale Community Center in Hinsdale, Illinois. UPA put up another incredible evening of classic Hindi poetry.

The Uttar Pradesh Association (UPA) of Greater Chicago was established in 1991 with the objective of bringing together people interested in Uttar Pradesh by promoting Indian music, art and culture. Their web site www.upassociation.com is dedicated to all the people interested in these objectives. It provides a platform for dissemination of information for the people in Chicago land. Their Cultural Programs, Kavi Sammelans and picnics are big attractions in Chicagoland and draw participants from all over the country and India as well.

Dr. Ghanshyam Pandey, Chairman, Board of Trustees and Founder President gave a brief introduction of UPA. Ravi Arora, current president delivered welcoming address followed by introduction of Kavi’s by Dr. Subhash Pandey, member of Board and and past president.

All these 3 famous leading Kavi and Hasykar are revered for their awakening and entertaining conscious of millions with their humor containing deep penetrating Satire poetry and comedy. During their presentation the hall thundered with laughter and applause till 8-30 in the night with the wholesome entertaining performance by the three poets. Each one of the poets represented a different genre in them self expressing Parody, Satire, patriotism and Intellectualism, covering all walks of life. The mood for laughter set in with the light conversational banter by all three of them. The audience bonded effortlessly with them
Bechain Kunwar born on July 1, 1942, holding degrees of M.A., M.COM., and Ph.D from prestigious Agra university. Presently head of department of Hindi. MMH post graduate Collage in Ghazilabad. He is founder and member of ‘Sanket’, Sammeksha Jankar, Received Bharat Shri Kavi ratna given by the past president of India. Shriti etc. Has travelled many countries and received worldwide acclaim.

Suresh Awasthi hailed from Kanpur is also word celebrated poet, more specifically Hassya Kavi, well known for. He is also Hindi professor and Journalist. He has published 11 books to his credit.

Deepak Gupta born on March 15, 1972, a Hyas Kawi is hailed from State of Hariyana. beside renoun Kavi, he is also a writer of many books like Seepion Mein Band Moti, Rashte Awswaaz etc.He is a recepient of Sanjay Gandhi Rashtriya Yuv Kawi award.

The program ran a full 3- 1/2 hours nonstop with a short break for 10 minutes. There were many positive compliments received from the enthusiastic and appreciative audience.

The famous Taj Mahal of Agra is also located in this state.

From religious viewpoint, important cities in this state are Allahabad, Varanasi, Ayodhya and Mathura. The state also hosts the world famous ‘Kumbh Mela’.

UP’s festivals speak of its rich cultural and traditional background. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian all celebrate their festivals according to their customs and rituals. Holi, Diwali, Durga Pooja, Dusshera, Bakri Id, Barah Wafat, Id-ul-Fitr, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Lohri, Christmas, Easter main festivals celebrated in UP.
