FIA Chicago Hosts Spectacular, Vibrant & Colorful Holi Celebrations

Chicago IL: Federation of Indian Associations [FIA] Chicago, status 501(c)(3), a premier community umbrella organization — hosted a spectacular, vibrant and colorful Holi celebrations marked by festive gaiety interspersed with beautifully decorated stage & premises, filled with music, dance and singing that was awash with the vibrancy of colors and gallant exuberance at the Mall of India in Naperville, Illinois on Sunday Apr 03, 2022.

The event kicked off with an Opening Welcome by Mistress of ceremonies Richa Chand, along with the warm introductions by co-emcees Vinita Gulabani and Pratibha Jairath & Neelam Jai , who all charmed the audience throughout the festive celebration with their captivating eloquence marked by impromptu quips in between.

Beginning the auspicious Holi celebrations, the Devotional Prayer Song by Mrs Rita Shah served as a great reminder to all that we must cherish each moment in life and be thankful to the almighty for being so generous to us. Chairman & Founder President Mr. Sunil Shah was invited for a Welcome address, followed by President Mr Hitesh Gandhi and Past President and Founder Mr. Onkar Sangha. 

Presiding over the Holi celebrations, Sunil Shah, FIA’s Chairman, Founder & Visionary welcomed the large gathering and said Holi is a celebration of the festival of colors – colors of unity – colors of humanity and added It is a celebration of life! President Hitesh Gandhi in his speech expressed that this event is not just about Holi celebration but it has a greater purpose of keeping our culture alive and unite us all and he announced the upcoming Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava celebrations in August 2022.

The Holi celebrations attracted a large community attendance which was bolstered by the presence of several high ranking elected officials and dignitaries, at the auspicious Lamp Lighting ceremony which was conducted by FIA leadership along with: Mayor Glendale Heights Chodri Khokkar, Circuit Court Judge Kavita Athanikar, Aurora Alderman Shweta Baid, Trustee Wheatland Township Meghana Bansal, Krishna Bansal, Grand Sponsor Jasbir Suga with Suga Builders, Hanover Park Trustee Khaja Moinuddin, Pradeep B Shukla, Ajeet Singh( Midway Business group), Keerthi Reevori, Harry Sidhu ( Outland Media), Altaf Bukhari (AB Productions) FIA Partner Member Association Presidents and Representatives: Shailendra Singh & Chandan Singh (USOGC), Ramesh Malhan (UPA), Sal Khoja ( SK Productions), Manoj Rathod( Arush Music) & all members of Team FIA (Executive Board, Directors and Advisory Board) Members were all invited on stage to recognize them.

The loud & exuberant Dhol Tasha Pathak performance by Maharashtra Mandal Shala – led by Vidya Joshi, filled everyone’s heart with Holi cheer!!. Jitendra Bulsara sang Rang Barse, Khaike Paan Banaras Wala and many more Holi Special songs, Pratibha Jairath & Rita Shah sang Kajra Mohabbat Wala, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan and many other fan favorites, Sahiba Sidhu sang Baar-Baar Dekho, Richa Chand sang Jai Jai Shiv Shankar, Mahijit Virdi also sang popular Hindi & Punjabi songs! And all these performances brought the audience to its feet, and everyone started dancing in enthusiasm.

There were several energetic bollywood inspired folk, fusion and modern group dance performances. Jai Mehta did an energetic modern contemporary style dance performance on Desi Girls. Equally sensational performance was from Team Laya on a Bollywood Hindi Medley, depicting the Holi fun in fusion style dance (Choreographer: Priyanka Parekh, Performers: Priyanka Parekh, Ananya Bhuskute, Manisha Patil, Manasi Thatte, Trupti Kale, Sampada Thatte ). A super rocking performance by SR International Group also left the audience enthralled.(SRI CEO Rita Singh, Choreographer: Elizar Rodriguez; Performers: Keya Patel, Diya Rakesh, Saanvika Soni, Karina Bhatt, Nithya Lavu, Akshath Reddy, Ananya Maduri, Dhruva Shah, Hansikaa Vinotha Kannan, Neha John, Shreeya Thakur). Another very unique and traditional dance performance, by Suhani Academy of Performing arts and Hindu scriptures and Vedas stole everyone’s heart!!(Choreographer: Falguni Rana, Participants: Aanya Sullivan, Riya Sullivan, Triti Oliver, Mohini Sullivan, Monica Jaiswal, Oliver and Falguni Rana).

Amidst all this a very calming and relaxing “Talk on Virtues of Yoga & Meditation in Today’s Life!” was presented by Yoga Guru Anu Malhotra. There were several Vendor Spotlight Announcements, throughout the program, which highlighted the special deals, discounts, products & services offered by various Vendors participating at the FIA Holi Bazaar: Beautiful Ideas – The Indian Boutique, VR Fabrics and Home Decor, VJ Unique Collections, DHARMISTA Collections, Hiranmaayeeem, Ladies Choice, Kirby, Outland Media, SHOWFEST, Be the Match, Sanjeevani, Hyderabad House, Mall of India.

With the warm weather complimenting the festivities, the afternoon celebrations catapulted into joyful exuberance spilling out in the outdoors of the Mall where the actual Holi celebrations kicked in high gear with the high-pitched DJ music ( provided by DJ Thomas by JB Sounds)and the sprinkling of ‘gulal’ color powder on each other ensuring no one is left without the touch of color on them – each celebrant sprung into spontaneous dancing to the reverberating beats of Bollywood hits and the amazing Dholi beats by Mehul Adhikari, prompting the garba lovers to enjoy their favorite garba raas together while celebrating Holi!!

The event was concluded by the Vote of Thanks speech by FIA Executive VP Shital Daftari, followed by Dholi beats and the FIA team led the dancing audience to the outdoors for some Holi color fun!
