2012 Bridal Expo apprehensions Chicago audience

Chicago IL: Holiday Inn presented ‘The South Asian Bridal Expo 2012 from 11:00am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Holiday Inn, 3405 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows, IL. Bridal Expo started with “Dholmastersherlock” Shirish Shah from Chicago and his Troupe of brightly adorned dancers that practically danced on air, mesmerizing the crowd around. If you looked closely you could see the music infiltrating into the audience and a few shoulders actually bouncing to the beat!

Top Vendors specializing in Jewelry, Boutiques, Mandaps, Hair and Makeup Artists, Décor and Floral, Gift Favors, Photographers/Videographers, Invitations, DJs, Wedding Planners, Hotels, Caterers and Graceful Equines which provides white mare for the groom to ride during the Baraat ceremony participated in this event.

Public and Vendors came from near and far to attend this year’s expo whose back-drop seemed like a getaway well worth the travel. The event took place at the Holiday Inn Express of Rolling Meadows, with its island inspired banquet hall, taking us from the windy city to a Goan retreat. The Fashion show was a two part extravaganza featuring two distinct designers. Trusha Mehta of “Palkhi” dominated the first half with her large array of glamorous, and very much Bollywood designs. The models were strutting their poses, in Bridal saris, Lenghas and Party wear attire. If it wasn’t the intricate work in one piece, it was the ease and fluidity of the next piece that kept all eyes in the room in awe.

The tiniest model Reanna, 4 years old, showcased a white dress fit for any flower girl and received a standing ovation, much to her surprise.

The show didn’t stop there! Parul Aneja of Gorgeous Ways brought forth a truly glamorous line of Bridal and party wear. Her garments were modern with clean lines and silhouettes: different fabrics and colors added a bit of whimsy to traditional Indian design. If the dresses made the audience lean in, then the bridal wear made the audience almost topple the catwalk! They call Diwali the festival of lights, but it was as if the entire hall was lit up when the model brides made their way down the ramp. Any bride would want to soak up the spot light in something as extravagant and elegant as a gown from Gorgeous Ways!

The food was fabulous, and catered by Holiday Inn. Each vendor brought their own creation to the forefront. Unnati’s Mehdi Art applied designer Henna Tattoos that were the talk of brides to be. The art of henna that is already considered beautiful was intensified by the designer’s signature technique- a method seldom seen. Each model throughout the show featured Hair and Makeup from Anisha Creations, and Designer Tattoos from Unnati’s Mendhi Art.

The models included- Anand Bhatt, Vrunda Hirpara, Puneet Sanharwal, Sim Sanharwal, Needa Memon, Ruchi Ray, Nishma Patel, Kruti Mehta, Aarti Chopra, Tanya Sharma, Disha Patel and the youngest model, Reanna Patel.
