JSMC Raas Garba 2012 was a outstanding success
Chicago IL: Jain Society of Metropolitan Chicago (JSMC) presented Raas Garba Ramzat on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Jain Center, 435 N. Route 59, Bartlett, IL. JSMC organized Raas Garba Ramzat for the third consecutive year. Purpose and goal for organizing the event was dual, Community Service and Fund Raising. The whirling dancers, clapping hands, distinct sound of wooden sticks struck together, toe tapping music and people wearing colorful clothes marked the Navratri celebration at the Garba & Dandiya Raas. Ticket were $10 (in advance), At the Door – 12, Children under 6 years free
Event started at 8:00pm on October 19th with Garba time with Non-stop music provided by Raj & Smruti Pandya group from KY. This followed by Break at 10:00 PM. During Break, various food stalls were available to purchase food at minimal cost. Lamp Lighting Ceremony by Sponsors of the event was organized after Break when Platinum Sponsors and Golden Sponsors were present. After Lamp Lighting Ceremony winner of Garba and Best dress in Groups of 18 years and below and above were declared and Sponsors and Musicians were honored with presentation of Plaques. After that all participated in Garba with clapping. There after Raas time with Non-stop music started and it lasted until 1:00 AM, at 1:00 AM there was Mataji’s Aarti performed by Smruti Pandya and led by Diamond Sponsor. Vendors’ booth were setup in the Hallway throughout the event. Vendors Advertisements were displayed live on two large screen projectors throughout the event.
Prominent community leaders and Business associates invited were Platinum Sponsor of the event – Owner and well-known community leader Mr. and Mrs. Vasantbhai from Patel Brothers, Gold Sponsor of the event Kamalbhai Shah of Indo Family Club and Eman Fekry from Vonage were present. The Decoration Theme this year was Traditional.
Conduction of master of ceremony was done efficiently by Shilpa Shah (Youth Sec. – JSMC) & Hitesh Shah (VP – JSMC). “ Navratri is an event where Youth participate in great numbers. There has been special promotions targeted towards Youth by Youth Secretary, Shilpa Shah, using social media like Facebook…There was competition in following category: Best Costume, Best Raas Performance and Best Garba Performance under two categories. One 18 years and above and below 18 years. Winners were awarded Trophies and two of the winners received a Grand Prize of Weekend Getaway . Judges for the competition were: Roopal Patel, Gauri Jog, Sejal Kadakia and Poyni Jahagirdar.
This event was supported and put together with the help from almost 40 volunteers. Each one of them had been assigned to a team and some of their names are provided below.

In order to provide security for the event, JSMC had made arrangements with Bartlett Police and hired Army veterans from Safe Guard Resources as Private Security guards. This was besides the unmarked security team of volunteers that were keeping an eye across the place during the event.
Diamond and Gold Sponsors were thanked for supporting JSMC Raas Garba – Ramzat event. All sponsors who participated in various sponsorship opportunities and supported this event were recognized. All Volunteers whose support and help made it possible to bring this event to the entire community were thanked.
The management team led by President Atul Chokshi, Hitesh Shah, Vice President of JSMC, Shilpa Shah, Dilip Shah, Vipul Shah, Tejas Shah and Piyush Gandhi worked tirelessly to put together this event successfully.
“This is the third consecutive year that JSMC is pleased to offer a wonderful community event on the occasion of Navratri. This is one event that brings together members from various communities to celebrate the festivities at the state-of-art JSMC facility and we are proud that it had been equally well received by our members and non-members alike” said Mr. Chokshi.
Upcoming event: JSMC is proud to present a Musical Extravaganza on the occasion of Diwali this year. The event is scheduled for November 9th (Friday). The evening will be celebrated with musical melodies provided by Ramzat Group. The entry ticket is $10 for JSMC Members and $15 for Non-Members. The price includes Dinner.
