The second eldest son of Ramanlal and Kamalaben Mehta, he worked hard and obtained a law degree at a young age of 32 from L. A. Shah Law College in Ahmedabad, India. In 1956 he married Shankutala Parikh and had two children. In 1968, he immigrated to the USA, starting his career in the New York City working, learning and gaining experience in US legal system. After briefly working in Chicago Title and Trust Company, he opened his law practice in 1973. His immense pride in his homeland and heritage, and his love of his new country compelled him to concentrate his practice in the area of immigration. This love soon transformed his hobby into a life-changing career, helping a large number of needy apprehensive Indians achieve their dreams of permanent residency in the US. Mahendrabhai often worked as pro-bono lawyer to needy and desperate clients. He made history here and in India filing an unjust and defamation lawsuit against American writer Mr. Hirsh for publishing a libelous account against the honest and beloved then-Prime Minister of India, Mr. Morarji Desai.

Mahendrabhai believed that children could never succeed and really know where they are going in life, unless they could relate to where they came from. He genuinely believed in honesty and tolerance among different communities. His passion for creating a better world for all will never be forgotten.
