A Tribute to a Legend’s, A Melodic Soul That Lives Beyond Time

Chicago, IL: Communitymourns the loss of Bhupendra Singh, a beloved singer whose soulful voice and deep passion for music earned him the title “Kishore Kumar of Chicago.” Known for his versatility across romantic, philosophical, and classical melodies, he made history as the first Chicago land singer to launch his own album in Mumbai under Baba Sehgal’s music direction. A “Celebration of life” event was held to honour his life and legacy on Tuesday, March 4th, 2025, from 10 am to 12 noon (CST) at DuPage Cremations and Funeral Chapel, 951 W. Washington St, West Chicago, IL. Distinguished gathering of Chicago’s business and political community leaders, Local Singers, Friends, Family and admirers flew and drove the miles from to pay tribute to a voice that will forever be remembered.

Manav Ahuja, Bhupendra Singh’s close friend’s son, shared an emotional tribute, recalling his emotional relationship as one of the most cherished times of his life. He described Bhupi Tauji, as the epitomeof affection, a man who lived life to the fullest, spreading laughter wherever he went. Known for his infectious energy and signature humour, Bhupi Tauji formed deep connections with everyone he met. Struggling to hold back tears, he expressed deep sorrow at his loss, praying for his Soul’s Peace and remembering him as his Tauji who will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

Falasha Mahadevia shared heartfelt memories of Bhupendra Singh, whom she fondly called Bhupi Uncle. Describing him as a constant presence in her life, she recalled his unwavering warmth, generosity, and love for celebration. From childhood birthdays at his restaurant to watching him mesmerize audiences on stage, she admired his passion for music and life. Most of all, she admired his resilience defying a six-month prognosis with sheer willpower. She expressed deep gratitude for his influence.

Rajan Mahadevia, close friend was choked as he spoke of his 26 years journey of friendship with Bhupi. He said, he was the spirit of life and enjoyed life to the fullest. Rajan said It’s a difficult moment to talk or else he can speak for hours. He concluded his thoughts with tears and prayed for his Soul to Rest in Peace.

Cecil Joseph CEO – IDF USA, A long-time friend & College Buddy of Bhupendra Singh (who they lovingly call Bhupi) shared his heartfelt memories, recalling their 46-year bond. While Bhupi represented their college in singing & won awards, he won awards in athletics, and their friendship grew over the years. Known for his smile & witty one-liners, Bhupi brought laughter to everyone around him. As a Singh, Cecil Joseph described him as a lion that fought bravely in his final battle, he admired his strength and resilience. On behalf of old college friends, including Vijay Murthy & team, & his local friends Mukesh Shah, Thomas Abraham, Karan Kohli, Prashant Mohanty, Alex Patel & all family members he extended condolences to Bhupi’s family, assuring them of their unwavering support. He concluded with prayers that Bhupi will remain immortal as a successful artist & will continue to make everyone happy through his YouTube video of his performances. He thanked all who attended & wished Bhupi a peaceful journey & God Almighty bless his soul to RIP.

Muzaffar Hussain, family friend for over 21 years, shared his emotions being loved and cared for by Bhupendra. Bhupi and Sunita welcomed him into their lives 21 years ago with open hearts. He described Bhupi as a man who was always full of love, always ensuring everyone felt cared for without saying a word. Every moment with him was full of warmth and joy. “I will love you forever, Bhupibhai until my last breath.”

Ajay Bhatia,A close friend and singer shared an emotional tribute, recalling Bhupendra as a dear friend and an incredible musician, we remember his mesmerizing voice and ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. The band will never sound the same without him, and our lives will forever miss a beat. His signature song in Michigan kept the audience captivated till the very end. “Goodbye, my brother,” but your melody will linger on forever. May God rest your blessed soul in peace.

Noby George, Bhupendra’s nephew-in-law said that it is never easy to say goodbye to someone you love. Since moving to the U.S. three years ago, Uncle’s home became our haven, our family away from home. We shared meals, music, and laughter, always welcomed with warmth and joy. His happiness when we arrived was unforgettable. He embraced us with love and care, giving us more than we could ever ask for. Rest in peace, dear Uncle. I know you’re smiling down on us, watching over us. Thank you for everything.

Devdeep, Bhupendra’s elder son said the warmth in this room reflects the love my father shared with so many. He taught me to live happily, laugh often, and not stress over small things. His positivity shaped me, and his passion for music inspired countless people. As a performer, a father, and a friend, he was truly special. His legacy of love and joy remains in our hearts. I am especially grateful that my son, Yuvraj, got to experience my father’s constant presence. Despite his diagnosis, he lived with joy, making every moment count. His spirit lives on through us, his music, and the values he instilled. I will always strive to make him proud. We love you, Dad.

Sneha Latamba, Bhupendra’s daughter-in-law who he always addressed as “Beti” said – I met Dad on September 5, 2018, and from that moment, he embraced me with warmth. He jokingly reassured me that I didn’t need to cook—he was the chef of the house. Our bond grew through grocery trips, cooking experiments, and his hilarious dish names. Dad taught me humility, resilience, and the importance of family. He became the Father Figure I needed, always reminding me to thank God. His laughter and wisdom will forever stay in our hearts. We love and miss you, Dad. Your spirit lives on in us.
